Ludwig Drums: From Ringo to Bonham to Today

“Inside the Ludwig Drums Factory”

By Andrea Cooper

This is a fascinating article on Ludwig Drums from the arts and literary magazine, Oxford American. The magazine, founded in 1992, publishes a quarterly sophisticated blend of fiction, poetry, memoir, and other topics honoring the American South’s cultural influence in food, literature, music, and visual arts.

Founded in 1909 by William F. Ludwig and his brother, Theobald, Ludwig continues to be a major player in the percussion market. (I own Slingerland and Gretsch drums sets, but have played a Ludwig snare for decades. Plus, I have a three-octave marimba from Musser, part of the Ludwig percussion family.)
